Job Description

Hyde Group Engineering Limited is experiencing a period of growth within its aerospace design team and are currently looking for designers across all levels to join our team in Yeovil and Dukinfield. 

 As a Design Engineer - Airframe Structures your primary areas of technical responsibility will be to:  

  • Produce 3-D design definitions of the airframe and vehicle systems in CATIA V5.

  • Ensure that designs are cost effective and fit for purpose.

  • Assist in controlling the design process through the appropriate use of engineering tools and techniques such as Digital Mock Ups, Design Reviews and Trial Installations.

  • Produce structural or systems documentation including requirement specifications, safety documentation, qualification reports, and STRs.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Perform defined engineering design and analysis tasks, required for project and departmental purposes using established methods.

  • Develop and integrate engineering solutions from broader design concepts and schemes.

  • Gather and collate relevant technical and commercial information, as directed, to potentially aid/influence design and technical solutions.

  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing and production as required to meet department and project requirements.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

Mechanical Engineering Degree or HNC/HND/BTEC in Mechanical Engineering and Apprenticeship.
Knowledge and understanding in the design, manufacture of airframes and or vehicle systems, including: 

  • Knowledge of the design tools (CATIA V5).

  • Knowledge of the design processes.

  • Knowledge of airworthiness requirements and regulations (CS29 and Def Stan 00970).

  • Knowledge of the aircraft materials and manufacture.

  • Ability to follow well defined engineering processes.
