The Quality Inspector function will work under the direction of the Quality Manager in accordance with the organisation’s Quality Management System requirements . The inspector will ensure product conformity to customer quality requirements on a wide range of aerospace and defence products.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect CNC-machined aerospace parts (turning and milling) for dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

  • Use a range of precision measuring equipment including micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMMs.

  • Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.

  • Interpret specifications and standards.

  • Carry out First Article Inspections (FAI) in line with AS9102 requirements.

  • Record and report inspection results accurately using internal quality systems.

  • Identify and report non-conformances; assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Liaise with machinists, engineers, QA and production staff to resolve quality issues.

  • Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

 Desired Skills

  • Experience with CMM software (PC-DMIS).

  • Knowledge of SPC, MSA, and digital inspection systems.

  • Experience of optical measurement systems.

  • Experience of calibration management.

  • Experience of Quality Management Systems & document control.

  • Experience of CNC machining.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a quality inspection role within a CNC machining or aerospace environment.

  • Strong understanding of turning and milling processes.

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and using inspection tools.

  • Good communication, attention to detail and problem-solving skills (Lean/six sigma knowledge preferred).

As a Quality Assistant you will be working within a dynamic, cross functional and growing Hollygate Aircraft Components Quality Department.

Main Duties

The Quality Assistant role is aimed towards an individual who is driven and determined to grow within the Hyde Aero Products Quality Department. The company will provide thorough training and development opportunities, this individual should progress to higher Quality Assurance related roles and therefore prior experience within Quality Management roles is not essential, but desired. The role is advertised to coincide alongside a training and development plan which will result in the individual progressing towards a Quality Engineers position as a minimum, with growth to further positioned roles also available (and sought after). Further duties are detailed below:

  • Seek out and drive continuous improvements that will reduce non-conformances Identify and resolve issues within your control and contribute to wider improvement activities.

  • Proactively identify and resolve quality issues using problem solving techniques, whether in relation to process or product failures.  

  • To ensure if a customer has a concern relating to a product (i.e., nonconforming product) that the issue is fully investigated, corrective action is taken to contain the issue and stop any future issues.

  • Ensure all communication is given in a timely and professional manner; especially with respect to customer queries or internal Divisional discussions.

  • To update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; understanding customer specifications, the Hyde Quality Management System, and learning/developing further knowledge within other key aspects of the internal and Divisional Quality department.

  • Partake in internal audits in line with the Businesses Core Procedures, and assist the Senior Quality Engineers during external/customer audits.

  • Due to the subcontract nature of our business, a flexible hand on approach to your responsibilities is required. 

  • Manage customer standards and specifications, ensuring communication is shared with the wider Division within a timely manner.

  • Produce, manage and distribute a suite of KPIs alongside the Quality Department to drive continual improvement.

  • To learn and develop an understanding of a Quality Management System, with a view to assisting the Quality Department in standardising our approach to procedural development.

 Essential Skills

As a Trainee Aircraft Component Paint Sprayer, you will be trained in the application of paint and coatings to various aircraft components. This is a hands-on, learning-intensive role where you will receive on-the-job training and guidance from our experienced team to develop your skills in the aviation coatings industry.

  • Train to assist in preparing and masking aircraft components prior to paint application.

First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) Inspector

We are looking to appoint a First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) Inspector with excellent computer / Microsoft literacy skills and some awareness / experience of manufacturing and exposure to engineering drawings. The candidate will be part of our quality team within our sheet metal and assembly business at our Dukinfield (Cheshire) site.

About the opportunity

As the First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) Inspector you will play an integral part in:

1.    Following a detailed process manual to prepare the files and folder structure for FAIRs.

2.    Submitting the FAIR to clients or uploaded to a portal.

3.    Work closely with the management team to ensure client requirements are met on time.

4.    Maintain a suite of KPIs to track the performance of the FAIR process.

You will develop on existing knowledge and experience, keeping up to date with best practice and participate in internal and external training. You will also work closely with the quality departments from other Hyde business units, clients and suppliers as part of the wider aerospace supply chain.

The role is a good introduction to aerospace quality and a stepping stone to other roles.

Preferred Skills

  • Aerospace / other highly regulated industry experience in a FAIR collation / submission role.

  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes (preferably aerospace sheet metal or assembly).

  • Proven ability to read and understand aerospace sheet metal / assembly drawings and the related tolerances.

  • Experience of manual inspection and the measuring of parts .
