As a CNC Turner, you will work on various modern multi-functional CNC turret lathes with MAZATROL controls. As you will be working on a variety of projects, good multi-tasking skills are required.

Working unsupervised, you will be tasked with setting and producing components from technical drawings to high aerospace standards and specifications, in addition to programming or part programming machinery and running current proven programs.


To be considered for this role, you must have experience of using MAZATROL interfaces to program and set various CNC lathes some with bar feeder and C-axis, knowledge of Mazak or Mori machine will be an advantage.

Additionally, as a CNC Setter, you must be highly self-motivated with proven practical problem solving skills also able to implement TPM and the ability to work independently. You must also have effective interpersonal and English language communication abilities

Knowledge of Thread rolling to aerospace ABP2 standards is an advantage

 As a Design Engineer - Airframe Structures your primary areas of technical responsibility will be to:  

  • Produce 3-D design definitions of the airframe and vehicle systems in CATIA V5.

  • Ensure that designs are cost effective and fit for purpose.

  • Assist in controlling the design process through the appropriate use of engineering tools and techniques such as Digital Mock Ups, Design Reviews and Trial Installations.

  • Produce structural or systems documentation including requirement specifications, safety documentation, qualification reports, and STRs.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Perform defined engineering design and analysis tasks, required for project and departmental purposes using established methods.

  • Develop and integrate engineering solutions from broader design concepts and schemes.

  • Gather and collate relevant technical and commercial information, as directed, to potentially aid/influence design and technical solutions.

Working under the Chief Structural Engineer within a multi-disciplined team, you will be responsible for managing the requirements across the whole lifecycle using the IBM Rational DOORS requirements management tool. This will include capturing and analyzing stakeholder and internal requirements, maintaining full traceability at all levels, and documenting the results of verification activities to demonstrate compliance.

As the role requires the interrogation and presentation of design data, you should have an ability to use CATIA V5. The role will require organizing design reviews in accordance with schedule and performance targets. Your role will require you to develop excellent working relationships with our internal and external customers. 

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • You should have as a minimum an undergraduate degree in Engineering or related scientific discipline, alongside experience of the following: 

  • Working across the full engineering lifecycle

Hyde Group engineering are looking for an Engineer Analyst to join our UK team based at our Yeovil site in the South West of England.  

As an Engineer Analyst, your main purpose is to contribute to, as part of an increasingly integrated stress / design team of aerostructure specialists, the determination of data for use in the verification of design or modification of company aerostructure products, ensuring their compliance with regulatory requirements and fitness for purpose.

  • Generation of the test requirements and compilation of static and fatigue strength summary documents. 

  • Coordination with the Loads, Dynamics, Aerodynamics, Flight Test, Mass Properties and Production Departments.

  • Review documents produced by the Materials Laboratory, Manufacturing, System Safety, Quality and Supply Chain Engineering.

  • Provides support to Manufacturing for approval of minor deviations and Concessions

  • Assist in the resolution of in-service structural failures, in collaboration with Airworthiness Authorities and customers.

  • Liaison with the Military and Civil Airworthiness Authorities in demonstrating the airworthiness of the Company's products and agreeing methods and programs of testing to achieve this.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Contribute to engineering solutions by undertaking stress analysis of schemes and engineering drawings as directed by SDD management.

  • Prepare requirements for structural test programs. 

  • Analyse results of structural and material tests.

  • Calculate static and fatigue strengths demonstrated by tests.

  • Prepare sections of fatigue substantiation reports and type records.

  • Liaise with other engineering departments at a corresponding level to achieve technical and departmental objectives.

  • To undertake check stress and fatigue analysis where appropriate.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Qualification: Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or similar

  • Perform defined engineering design tasks required for project, process and departmental purposes using established methods.

  • Possess knowledge of the overall static structural substantiation process from definition of external loads through airframe finite element analysis to final check stress clearance;

  • Possess knowledge of airframe fatigue substantiation including safe life, flight data gathering of fatigue loads, through fatigue life calculation methods to in-service aircraft monitoring.

  • Knowledge of the main design tools used within LH (MathCAD, Hyperworks and NASTRAN);

  • Knowledge of the drawing and design processes;

  • Knowledge of lightweight structural analysis

  • Knowledge of aircraft manufacture and assembly;

  • Ability to follow well defined engineering processes.
