Playing a key role within the planning department you will responsible for the creation, authorization and shop-loading of production job cards in accordance with engineering drawings and client specifications.  In order to maintain a smooth running department, you will be expected to learn and support all other planning department activities shared by the team.

You shall have a sound understanding of a wide range of aerospace surface treatments and must be fluent at reading detail aerospace drawings.  The ability to create internal process controlling documents is an essential part of the role and therefore you must be methodical, proficient with a computer and have excellent written communication skills.

You’ll use your engineering experience to provide support to those with technical queries and you will also contribute towards continuous improvement activity in line with business strategy.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A proven track record as a planning engineer ideally within an Aerospace environment

  • Knowledge/experience of surface treatments

  • A recognized engineering qualification

  • Excellentadministration skills

  • Fluent at reading and interpreting engineering drawings

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Excel applications

  • Familiar with SAP

  • A Natural team player with a proactive approach

About the opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join a reputable business with a strong set of core values in a friendly supportive environment.  You'll embark ona3 to 4 year apprenticeship programme which will lead to gaining a recognized Engineering Qualification at the end, alongside an NVQ Level 3.  Our apprenticeships offer a range of both education and work based learning. 

During Year one, you'll move around our group, gaining experience in a variety of different areas such as fabrication and welding, machining, inspection, surface treatments and projects.  After your first year, you'll then be selected to specialise in your chosen area. 

We also encourage our apprentices to further their education with many of them going onto study towards a Level 4/5 qualification. 

Ideally you will need:

  • GCSE's equivalent towards a grade C/4 in Maths, English and a Science. 
  • Good IT Skills
  • A keen interest/commitment towards a career in Engineering
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • A desire to learn
  • Good time keeping/punctuality/a sense of responsibility

This exciting opportunity has been created due to business growth, and would involve you working closely with our project team and purchasing team to ensure that jobs are planned in correctly, taking account of our customer’s costs and timescales.  You will be responsible for raising the engineering route cards and will play your part in ensuring jobs are carried out to the required standards.

You’ll use your engineering experience to support with any technical queries and look at job costings, making recommendations where appropriate. You will also raise Bill of materials via our SAP system. Updating and reviewing our data with job updates.  

You will also contribute towards continuous improvement activity and work on process improvement projects.

Ideally, you will have:

·        A proven track record as a planning engineer ideally within an Aerospace environment

·        A recognized engineering qualification

·        Excellent project management and administration skills

·        Ability to read and interrogate engineering drawings

·        Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications

·        Familiar with SAP

·        Ability to prioritise workloads and work in a fast paced environment
