For over 25 years, Hyde has been the supplier of choice for complex engine test systems in a strategic alliance that has delivered more than forty engine test ‘pylons’.

These ‘pylons’ are critical pieces of equipment that enable performance parameters for test and production engines units to be evaluated before the units are put into service.  They act as a critical interface between the engine and testbed, allowing the following parameters typically to be measured:

  • hydraulic

  • fuel consumption

  • pneumatic

  • fuel

  • anti-icing

  • fire extinguisher

  • water cooling

  • high voltage electrical

  • control signalling (0-10mV).

The pylons are also used to test the engine’s acoustic/noise performance and, in the case of a blade failure, containment and safe shutdown.

Pylons have been supplied for the Trent 900,  Trent 1000, Trent XWB and BR725 engines, as well as derivatives for military applications.
